China is still committed to settling maritime problems with other nations through conversation, but it will not be "abused," a senior military official said Monday at a conference of senior foreign navy officials in the port city of Qingdao. The sea should not be an arena where countries can flex their "gunboat muscles", added Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a close ally of President Xi Jinping.
