Manipur Incident: CBI to probe the viral incident; Centre requests SC to transfer case from Manipur
The Central Government has informed the Supreme Court that the CBI will conduct probe into the incident in which two Manipuri women belonging to Kuki tribe were seen paraded Naked and being molested.
It submitted to the apex court that the Centre has zero tolerance towards crimes against women and heinous offence like the Manipur one will be taken seriously and justice will be done so that it has a deterrent effect across the nation.
It has also assured that the investigation will be completed at the earliest and trial will be held in a time bound manner.
The Centre has also requested the apex court to pass directions to transfer the probe to a State other than Manipur so that the trial could take place seamlessly.

The personnel are from CRPF's 128 Battalion deployed at Naransena area in Bishnupur district in the state. Imphal: Former CRPF chief & security advisor to Manipur govt Kuldiep Singh says, "...It was a storm kind of condition and it was quite dark. Before the forces retaliated they (militants) fired on camp inmates, and four personnel got serious injuries out of which two succumbed to the injuries. Investigation will be done and we will take action against them. We will not spare them and bring them to the Court of law. They will have to pay for this as per the law of the land... This is the first time that they have attacked the forces, none of the militants of Meiteis or Kukis attacked the forces as the forces are here to maintain peace and that is how we are in the middle of both communities. They call these forces (paramilitary) neutral forces... Earlier, you might have seen that the groups are attacking the national infrastructure like the roads and towers. Now, they are attacking central forces. How can this be tolerated?..."
