During a conversation at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, Mescal's 'Gladiator II' director Ridley Scott let slip that the actor may have some scheduling conflicts for their next film collaboration. In a conversation with Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker Scott asked if Mescal is set to star in his upcoming thriller feature 'The Dog Stars.' Scott confirmed this as true before correcting himself and explaining that Mescal's schedule may prevent the 'Gladiator II' pair from reuniting on the new film. According to Scott, the actor is set to star in Sony Pictures' Beatles movies for director Sam Mendes.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Nyong'o is joining the robust bold-faced call sheet that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.
