Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Thursday tabled the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha in the post-lunch session, seeking to replace the chief justice of India (CJI) with a cabinet minister in the selection of the chief election commissioner and the election commissioners (ECs).
