Monday, 21 August 2023 Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha criticized mainstream parties for opposing land allotment to the landless and homeless, accusing them of not wanting peace in the region. Sinha denied the claims made by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NC vice-president Omar Abdullah that non-residents were being settled in J&K under the PMAY scheme. He emphasized that no outsider had been provided land or a home under PMAY and questioned the mainstream leaders' intentions. Sinha also highlighted positive changes in the region since the abrogation of Article 370, such as the end of street violence and extended business hours.
