The Delhi High Court has ruled that insulting a woman or being rude to her does not amount to outraging her modesty. The court set aside an order putting a man on trial for calling a woman 'gandi aurat' (dirty woman). The court emphasized that gender-specific laws are not meant to be anti-opposite gender but to address unique issues faced by a particular gender. It stated that judicial duty requires unwavering neutrality and impartiality, regardless of the gender-specific nature of a law.
