How much will you mislead? Jairam Ramesh hits back at Union minister over special session of Parliament
Wednesday, 6 September 2023 Hitting back at Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi for his criticism of Sonia Gandhi, the Congress on Wednesday said the agenda of every special session or sitting in the past was well known in advance and alleged that it was only the Modi government that "distorts" parliamentary conventions.Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh's attack came after Joshi accused Gandhi of trying to politicise the functioning of Parliament and create unnecessary controversy.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh noted the absence of invitations for domestic leaders to PM-Designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, highlighting that only international leaders had been invited thus far. He stated that once invitations were extended to leaders from the INDIA alliance, the matter would be considered. Additionally, AICC proposed Rahul Gandhi's name for the position of Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

In a sharp rebuke, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar strongly defended the integrity of the electoral process, dismissing Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's allegation that Home Minister Amit Shah had called 150 district magistrates after voting.
Kumar challenged Ramesh to substantiate the claim, warning of punishment for anyone attempting to influence officials, and decried spreading rumors that cast doubt on everyone involved.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday dismissed exit poll predictions, which projected a landslide victory for the BJP-NDA. He did so while making a reference to late Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala's song '295'. Following a party meeting, Rahul Gandhi was asked by reporters about the exit poll projections and how many seats he thinks the INDIA alliance would secure. "Sidhu Moose Wala ka song suna hai aapne? (Have you heard the song by Sidhu Moosewala?). 295," he said. The former Congress President, who is contesting both Wayanad and Raebareli in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, further termed the exit poll forecasts "Modi-media poll". "This is not an exit poll. This is a Modi-media poll," he told reporters. Most exit polls have forecast 136 seats for the INDIA bloc, and 379 for the BJP-headed NDA. The predictions also said that the saffron side is likely to make significant inroads in the South and cause massive upsets in Bengal and Odisha. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also rubbished the exit poll predictions, calling them "fake" and saying the INDIA alliance is not going below the 295-mark

Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Thomas Crooks fired five shots from an AR-15 rifle from a 120-yard distance. The incident highlighted critical security lapses compared to the SPG protocols for India's PM Modi, which include limited exposure and thorough sweeps. Footage revealed disorganised Secret Service personnel, insufficient Bullet-resistant shields, and Sniper protection. This event recalls the assassination of Japan's former PM Shinzo Abe and underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive review of security measures for political candidates.
