Wednesday, 27 September 2023 Kailash Vijayvargiya, a senior BJP leader, expressed surprise and confusion at being fielded from Indore-seat 1 in the upcoming assembly polls. He had initially believed that he and his son Akash would not be given tickets together. However, he ultimately accepted the party's decision and stated that he would strive to meet their expectations.
In another blow for the Congress party, its candidate from the Indore constituency, Akshay Kanti Bam, withdrew his nomination for the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections 2024, announced District Election Officer Ashish Singh. Accompanied by BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola, Bam visited the Collector's office to formalise the withdrawal of his candidature. Following this action, Akshay Bam promptly joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to Madhya Pradesh Minister and BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya.
