Why such haste to adopt draft reports? asks opposition

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 25 October 2023
Opposition members of the parliamentary standing committee on home affairs have expressed concerns about the speed at which draft reports on three criminal justice bills are being adopted. Members, including P Chidambaram and Derek O'Brien, have written to the committee chairperson requesting a postponement of the meeting to allow more time for scrutiny of the bills. At least 10 members are expected to submit dissent notes against the reports. Opposition MPs have also criticized the lack of consultation with stakeholders and the timing of the draft reports being sent during festival season.
