Congress, BJP engage in war of words over Assam CM's 'Akbar' remark
The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in a war of words over Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's 'Akbar' remark made during a speech in Chhattisgarh. The Congress has moved to the Election Commission against Sarma, alleging a poll code violation. The Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice to Sarma, stating that parts of his speech were found to be violative. Sarma responded by saying that his criticism of a candidate does not amount to communal politics.
