Telangana: CPI(M) announces first list of 17 seats after pre-poll alliance talks with Congress fail

The Telangana unit of CPI(M) has decided to contest 17 seats independently in the upcoming November 30 polls after failing to reach a seat sharing agreement with the Congress. The party's prime objective is to defeat BJP candidates and represent the voice of the poor in the assembly. If the CPI also fails to secure a deal with the Congress, there may be changes in the list of seats contested. In constituencies where BJP has a chance of winning, the CPI(M) will urge people to vote for the stronger principal contender, either Congress or BRS.
