"Earthquake does not kill people it is the structure that does": NCS Director on Nepal earthquake

IndiaTimes Saturday, 4 November 2023
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) Director, Dr OP Mishra, stated that two important factors contributing to the severity of the recent earthquake in Nepal were the time and structure. He emphasized that it is not the earthquake itself that kills people, but the kind of structures present in the region. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.4, caused significant damage and loss of life in Nepal and was felt in several districts of North India.
