'Mosquito bite can't cause 3mm laceration'; 21-year-old gets 20 years' RI in Pocso case
Sunday, 5 November 2023 A 21-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 23-month-old niece. The court dismissed the accused's claim that a mosquito bite caused the girl's injuries and stated that the medical evidence indicated signs of sexual assault. Despite the child not testifying in court, the judge found the testimony of prosecution witnesses, including the child's mother, to be reliable and supported by medical evidence. The accused's sister also corroborated the mother's statement. The court concluded that the evidence proved the guilt of the accused.
