IndiaTimes Sunday, 26 November 2023
CJI Chandrachud emphasizes the need for engagement with marginalized sections, representation of women in higher judiciary, and inclusiveness in the legal profession. Concerned about the under-representation of women, he suggests discussing the issue and taking steps to increase the available pool for selection of judges. He also highlights the challenges faced by marginalized sections due to the English medium of the CLAT examination. CJI believes that social justice and gender justice are collective projects. SC judge B R Gavai expresses the need to work towards achieving Ambedkar's dream of an equal society.
