Maharashtra winks at rules, favours coop bank led by BJP MLC
The Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank (MDCCB), chaired by BJP leader Pravin Darekar, has been granted an exception in the rules to conduct government transactions, despite objections from the state's cooperation department. The bank argued against the department's assessment, stating that it had an A rating for five years. Darekar claims that the objections against the bank were politically motivated. The MDCCB, with a net worth of Rs 360 crore and turnover of Rs 12,000 crore, has been denied permission to conduct government transactions.
