Number of women MLAs remain low in newly elected assemblies in 4 states, average age increases

The number of women MLAs in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh remains below the one-third mark set by the women's reservation bill. Chhattisgarh has the highest percentage of women MLAs among the four states, with 21% of its lawmakers being women. Rajasthan has seen a decrease in the number of women MLAs, while Telangana and Madhya Pradesh have seen a slight increase. The assemblies in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana have also seen an increase in the proportion of older MLAs.
