NMC allowed foreign medical graduates from Ukraine to complete course: Government in Rajya Sabha
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has allowed foreign medical graduates (FMGs) from Ukraine to complete their remaining medical course in different countries. The NMC has devised a scheme for Indian students who were in their last year of undergraduate medicine to appear in FMG examination. After qualifying the examination, FMGs are required to undergo a two-year compulsory rotating medical internship. The NMC has given no-objection to Ukraine's Academic Mobility Program, allowing FMGs to temporarily relocate to other universities. According to the ministry of external affairs, there are currently 5,715 Indian students enrolled in Ukrainian universities.
