45% rise in hate-speech cases over past 2 yrs: NCRB report

The latest NCRB report on crime for 2022 reveals a 45% increase in cases of hate speech and acts promoting enmity between groups based on religion, race, language, and place of birth in India. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra had the highest number of cases in 2022. Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal, and Telangana had the highest rates of such crimes. MP, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram saw a significant rise in hate speech cases during the recent elections.
