Wednesday, 6 December 2023 Lalduhoma, the chief minister-designate of Mizoram, plans to meet Amit Shah and S Jaishankar to discuss the issue of refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh, as well as internally displaced people from Manipur. Lalduhoma, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader, expressed the intention to provide shelter and better relief to the refugees and displaced people. The ZPM won 27 of the total 40 assembly seats, defeating the outgoing MNF government. Lalduhoma, a former IPS officer, aims to discuss the country's policy towards refugees with Jaishankar, his civil service batchmate.
