V-B gets new plaque with Tagore name

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 6 December 2023
Two large steel and glass frames housing Unesco's World Heritage Site certification and acknowledging Rabindranath Tagore as the founder and guiding light of the Visva-Bharati campus replaced on Wednesday the plaques controversially installed last October without any mention of the Nobel laureate, reports S Boral. The earlier plaques had sparked outrage that refused to die down despite the varsity insisting that these were temporary. " "Established in rural Bengal in 1901 by the great Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Santiniketan was a cradle of learning and education firmly rooted in India's classical traditions...," states the new signs.
