Global SAF production volumes going up, but not fast enough: IATA

IndiaTimes Thursday, 7 December 2023
IATA estimates that SAF production is expected to triple to 1.875 billion liters in 2024, accounting for 0.53% of aviation's fuel needs and 6% of renewable fuel capacity. However, the industry is missing opportunities due to limited supply. The industry needs 25-30% of renewable fuel production capacity for SAF to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The ICAO has agreed on a global framework to promote SAF production to reduce carbon intensity by 2030.
