'Pre-trial detention can't be so long': SC bail to excise accused

Supreme Court grants bail to Benoy Babu, regional manager of Pernod Ricard in the Delhi excise scam money laundering case. The court rejects the plea of the Enforcement Directorate to deny bail like Manish Sisodia. Trial has not commenced yet, and the accused has been in pre-trial detention for 13 months. Benoy Babu is not accused in a corruption case, but a prosecution witness for the CBI. The court orders his release on bail, noting that charges have not been framed. Delhi High Court had previously rejected his bail plea.
