Landmark judgment: Supreme Court upholds abrogation of Article 370, says it was temporary provision
The Supreme Court on Monday upheld government's order on abrogation of Article 370. The court delivered a unanimous verdict on petitions challenging the validity of the Centre's 2019 decisions to scrap special status for Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, and its bifurcation into two Union Territories. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, while reading out the apex court's judgement, said the President's order on Article 370 was valid, and mentioned that it was a temporary provision.
