Omar Abdullah's plea for divorce citing cruelty by his estranged wife Payal was rejected by the Delhi High Court. The court upheld the family court decision that denied Abdullah a decree of divorce. The allegations of cruelty were deemed vague and unacceptable, and Abdullah failed to prove any act of cruelty. The couple had been living separately since 2009. Abdullah was directed to pay monthly interim maintenance to his estranged wife and for the education of his two sons.
