35 duped by fraudster who replaced Mumbai's first Floatel hotel contact details
Several people were duped after making advance payments for a booking at Mumbai's AB Celestial, the city's first floating hotel. The Floatel hotel, located at the Maharashtra Maritime Board's jetty, had closed its services in April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later due to the Coastal Road Work. Fraudsters had replaced the contact details of AB Celestial on Google Business, leading customers to transfer money without knowing the hotel was closed. The Bandra police have registered a case against unknown persons for impersonation and identity theft.
