UP judicial officer seeks SC nod for euthanasia over sexual abuse

IndiaTimes Thursday, 14 December 2023
A judicial officer from Uttar Pradesh has sought permission from the Supreme Court for euthanasia after allegedly being sexually harassed by a senior judge. Despite approaching all possible forums for justice, no action was taken. The officer made complaints to the internal complaints committee of the high court, but the inquiry took six months to start. The officer claims that the witnesses in the inquiry were subordinates of the accused judge, making it unlikely for them to testify against him. The officer now wishes to end her life in a dignified way.
