Missile destroyer 'Imphal' to be commissioned into Indian Navy on December 26
The Imphal-class guided-missile destroyer, Imphal, is scheduled to be commissioned into the Indian Navy on December 26 in Mumbai. Constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) using indigenous DMR 249A steel, Imphal is one of the largest missile destroyers ever made. It is equipped with indigenously-developed anti-submarine weapons and sensors, including Sonar Humsa NG and ASW Rocket Launchers. Imphal also features advanced technology like supersonic 'Brahmos' missiles and 'Barak-8' Surface-to-Air Missiles, enhancing India's maritime prowess in the Indian Ocean Region.
