Silkyara tunnel contractor locked in dispute with Indian Navy over missed deadline

Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd, the private contractor responsible for the collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand, is also involved in a dispute over the failure to complete a top-secret defence project for the Indian Navy known as Project Varsha. The Ministry of Defence removed Navayuga as the contractor for the project due to repeated delays. Navayuga had approached the Delhi High Court seeking to stop authorities from encashing bank guarantees paid for the project. The project involves the construction of the Inner and Outer Harbour and is of national and strategic importance.
