Gyanvapi mosque dispute: Allahabad high court rejects maintainability plea
The Allahabad High Court rejects five petitions challenging the maintainability of a civil suit seeking the restoration of a temple at the site of the Gyanvapi mosque. The Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee (AIMC) and the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board also challenge a Varanasi court order to survey the mosque. The AIMC disputes the suit's maintainability, claiming the mosque is part of the temple. The petitioners' primary contention is that the suit violates the Places of Worship Act of 1991.
