Ex-Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar elected speaker of MP assembly
Narendra Singh Tomar, former Union minister, was unanimously elected as the speaker of the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly. The first session of the assembly began on Monday. Chief minister Mohan Yadav proposed Tomar as the speaker and was seconded by Umang Singhar. Tomar's election was supported by Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prahlad Patel. After a voice vote, Tomar was declared elected unanimously. Tomar, who won from the Dimani assembly seat in the recent state elections, has held various political positions in the BJP.
