Lok Sabha passes 3 criminal justice bills to replace Raj-era laws
Wednesday, 20 December 2023 Lok Sabha has passed the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, replacing the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively. The bills are set to be passed by Rajya Sabha, clearing the way for significant reframing of the criminal justice system.
