BJP appoints Kiran Deo as Chhattisgarh unit president
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed Kiran Singh Deo from the tribal Bastar region as the Chhattisgarh state unit president. BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda appointed 61-year-old Deo as the new state president, and national secretary Arun Singh issued a letter of appointment. Kiran Deo won the lone unreserved Jagdalpur seat in the Bastar region in the recently concluded assembly polls. The new Chhattisgarh BJP chief belongs to the erstwhile Sukma "Jamindar" family under Bastar Maharaja.
