Friday, 22 December 2023 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday visited the encounter site in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district in which four Indian soldiers were killed and three suffered injuries. It is learnt that a specialised team of the Central agency led by a Deputy Inspector General as well as a Superintendent of Police rank officer will be monitoring the findings of the visit to the site. The NIA suo motto decides to send its team to visit the scene of crime in which it finds any terror angle, whether the case is handed over to the agency or not.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two suspects - Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Taha - in connection with Bengaluru's Rameswaram Cafe blast case on Friday. The two were nabbed near West Bengal's Kolkata. Mussavir Hussain Shazib has been identified as the alleged "mastermind" behind the low-intensity blast that occurred at a prominent eatery in Bengaluru on March 1. Shazib is accused of placing the improvised explosive device (IED) at the cafe. Additionally, Abdul Matheen Taha is implicated as a co-conspirator in the incident. Both Taha and Shazib hail from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, according to statements from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
