NewsClick head Amit Chakravarty's move follows extension of probe deadline

Amit Chakravarty, the HR head of NewsClick, has sought pardon in a UAPA case before special judge Hardeep Kaur. The matter has been posted before a metropolitan magistrate to record Chakravarty's statement under Section 164 of CrPC. Chakravarty filed the application under Section 306 of CrPC, which allows courts to grant pardon for full disclosure of knowledge related to the offence. The court granted the special cell of Delhi police an additional 60 days to complete the probe against Chakravarty and NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha.
