Punjab: 100 Pakistan drones shot down this year, says BSF
Tuesday, 26 December 2023 The Border Security Force (BSF) informed on Tuesday that its personnel have either successfully shot down or recovered 100 Pakistdrones, through which attempts were made to smuggle narcotics, arms and ammunition into Indian territory, to date. The BSF said it has devised a 'three-pronged strategy' in a bid to curtail the movement of drugs and other narcotic substances into Indian territory on the sly. The forces added that they successfully apprehended smugglers, who were 'facilitating' the smuggling of narcotics through drones.

The Bannu military cantonment in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, located over 330 km east of Islamabad, came under a severe attack early on Monday (July 15). The assault, reportedly led by several suicide bombers, resulted in a prolonged gunbattle with security forces. The militant group Jaish Fursan-e-Muhammad, a faction of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to Pakistani state media, the incident began when the assailants attempted to breach the cantonment’s security perimeter with an explosive-laden vehicle.

The Shehbaz Sharif-led government in Pakistan has decided to ban the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the country's Information Minister announced on Monday. The PTI is Pakistan's largest opposition party. Attaullah Tarar, the Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced in a press conference that the decision to ban the PTI was made due to alleged anti-state activities.
