Pakistan blusters but may find a 'face saver' in statehood

IndiaTimes Monday, 11 December 2023
The Supreme Court J&K verdict solidifies the revocation of the special status of J&K, allowing India to present it as a fait accompli to Pakistan. The judgement also highlights India's position that Pakistan has no role in the internal affairs of J&K. It inspires hope for an India-Pakistan detente once the newly elected governments are in power. Pakistan sees the order for early return to statehood as a potential face saver and a way to untangle the knots in the India-Pakistan relationship.
