Federalism basic structure of Constitution, not diluted by using 'Central government' instead of 'Union': Delhi high court
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking to replace the term "Central government" with 'Union' or 'Union government' in all orders, notifications, and correspondences. The court stated that federalism is an essential and basic feature of the Indian Constitution and is not violated by the use of the term "Central government". The court emphasized that various expressions such as "Central Government", "Union of India", and "Government of India" are used interchangeably and do not imply that state governments are subordinate to the Union Government.
