Jharkhand lowers pension age for tribals, Dalits to 50 years

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren announced plans to lower the age limit for old-age pensions from 60 to 50 for SCs, STs, and OBCs. The state currently provides a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to senior citizens and plans to reduce the age limit to benefit Adivasi and Dalit beneficiaries. Soren also handed over letters to lab technicians, trained graduate teachers, and health department officials, and inaugurated infrastructure projects worth Rs 4,500 crore. The government will be hiring cooks for colleges and universities to provide meals for students in far-flung areas.
