Government may release new national cooperation policy this month to manage affairs of over 8.5 lakh cooperatives
Monday, 1 January 2024 India will replace its existing national cooperation policy from 2002 with a new one in 2024. The new policy aims to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country and promote cooperative-based economic development. It will be backed by a legal and institutional framework. The final draft of the policy has already been prepared by a 49-member committee, and it is expected to be released in January or February. The policy will focus on creating vibrant economic cooperatives, modernizing them through technology, expanding into export markets, and providing incentives and capital infusion.
