BJP holds protest against arrest of Hindu activist who took part in Ram temple stir 31 years ago
Several BJP leaders were taken into preventive custody as the party launched protests across the state against the arrest of a Hindu activist connected to the commotion during the 1992 Ayodhya agitation. Srikant Poojari, a Kar Sevak arrested by the Hubballi-Dharwad police, was detained for his alleged participation in the agitation. BJP leaders, including R Ashoka and Arvind Bellad, staged a massive protest in Hubballi and demanded the withdrawal of the case against Poojari. The police detained around 90 to 100 people, including four legislators, and Karnataka Home Minister directed the police to pursue pending cases.
