Isro's ambitious plans: Uncrewed Gaganyaan mission could take off ahead of abort tests in 2024

IndiaTimes Thursday, 4 January 2024
Isro plans to carry out an uncrewed mission as part of Gaganyaan before the scheduled abort tests on the test vehicle. The first uncrewed mission may happen earlier than the test vehicle abort tests. Isro chairman, S Somanath, stated that abort missions are only necessary for the crewed mission and not the uncrewed missions. The first uncrewed mission will not carry the service module, but the half-humanoid Vyomitra may be included. Isro aims to launch at least one uncrewed mission in the first half of 2024. The GSLV-MkII, renamed GSLV, is set to launch soon, along with the NISAR mission.
