First time since Sanatan row, Udhayanidhi Stalin calls on PM Modi; seeks funds for flood relief in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek additional central funds for Tamil Nadu floods and invite him for the Khelo India Youth Games. Stalin had earlier urged PM Modi to declare the floods as a national disaster. Udhayanidhi's meeting with PM Modi also discussed the release of the National Disaster Relief Fund. Udhayanidhi Stalin had previously made controversial remarks against Sanatan Dharma, equating it with diseases. During the meeting, a coffee-table book on successful sports events in Tamil Nadu was presented to PM Modi.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent.
