Friday, 5 January 2024 External affairs minister S Jaishankar held a "comprehensive and productive" meeting with his Nepalese counterpart NP Saud and discussed overall bilateral ties, trade, connectivity projects, cooperation in defence and security, and the India-Nepal Joint Commission meeting. Nepal signed a long-term agreement for the export of 10,000 MW power to India, an MoU for cooperation in renewable energy, and jointly inaugurated three cross-border transmission lines. They also signed agreements for high-impact community development projects and the Launch Service Agreement for the Munal Satellite.

A tragic fire incident that took place in Kuwait today, claimed the lives of about 43 people and injured at least 40 others. As per On Manorama, 10 Indians, including five Keralites have lost their lives in the blaze. The incident took place at Mangaf block In Kuwait's Ahmadi Governorate. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, visited the injured workers at Al-Adan Hospital and the fire site, promising all possible help.
