5 of 6 Parliament breach accused agree to take polygraph test
Friday, 5 January 2024 A Delhi court Friday allowed the Delhi Police to conduct polygraph tests of five of the six accused in the parliament security breach case, who consented to the same. While Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat agreed to the polygraph test, Neelam Azad refused. Additional sessions judge Hardeep also extended the custody of all the accused till January 13 on an application moved by police, which submitted that the accused persons' social media data and data from SIM cards were yet to be retrieved.
Intense rainfall over several weeks in Tanzania has triggered devastating flooding and landslides, claiming the lives of 155 individuals and leaving 236 others injured, according to the country's Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa. Addressing Parliament, Majaliwa attributed the severity of the ongoing rainy season to the exacerbation of the El Niño climate phenomenon. The relentless downpours have not only caused widespread flooding but also inflicted extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and railways, exacerbating the challenges faced by affected communities across East Africa.
