774 fresh Covid cases in India

India records 774 new COVID-19 cases with 2 deaths. Rise in cases attributed to cold weather and emergence of new variant, JN.1. Highest single-day rise of 841 cases reported on December 31, 2023. Majority of active cases recovering at home. India experienced three waves of COVID-19, with Delta wave peaking in April-June 2021. Over 4.5 crore infected and 5.3 lakh deaths in India since the pandemic began. Over 4.4 crore have recovered with 98.81% national recovery rate. 220.67 crore vaccine doses administered.
