Woman can’t file DV plaint against bahu’s kin: Bombay HC

IndiaTimes Saturday, 6 January 2024
The Bombay high court ruled that a mother-in-law's domestic violence complaint against her daughter-in-law is maintainable under the DV Act. However, the complaint is not maintainable against the daughter-in-law's father and brother. The daughter-in-law, Zareena, her father, and brother moved to quash the complaint and summons. The court quashed the complaint against the father and brother, but maintained the complaint against Zareena, subject to satisfaction of other DV criteria.
