IndiaTimes Saturday, 13 January 2024
India recorded a spike of 441 new Covid-19 infections in a 24-hour period, with an active caseload of 3,238, according to Union health ministry data. No deaths were reported during this period. The rise in cases is attributed to the emergence of the Omicron lineage descendant, JN.1, and a drop in temperature. As of January 11, 827 cases of JN.1 have been reported in 12 states. India's recovery rate is 98.81%, with a fatality rate of 1.18%.
