Co-ops to have big share in $5trillion economy: Amit Shah

IndiaTimes Thursday, 18 January 2024
Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said government's aim is to ensure the cooperative sector has a big share in the Indian economy, which is projected to be $5 trillion by 2027-28. "We have decided that in the Modi government's $5 trillion economy target, cooperatives will have a big share and the sector in a way will advance into the 21st century directly from the 19th century," said Shah, noting that the cooperative movement missed the growth trajectory in the 20th century.
