IIT-K PhD student ends life at hostel, 3rd suicide in a month

A 29-year-old PhD student of IIT-Kanpur, Priyanka Jaiswal, hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her hostel room on the campus on Thursday. This is the third suicide at the institute in the past 30 days. A native of Dumka in Jharkhand, Priyanka had enrolled for a PhD in chemical engineering at IIT-Kanpur only on Dec 29, 2023.
