Brain behind India's first oral contraceptive dies

Dr Nitya Anand, the former director of the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) and the discoverer of India's first oral contraceptive 'Saheli,' passed away at the age of 99 after a prolonged illness. He was a Padma Shri awardee and made significant contributions as a medical chemist, publishing over 400 research papers, holding more than 130 patents, and supervising 100 PhD students.
